So you find yourself wondering why we have switched to providing estimates over the phone rather than going over to your job site and give it to you then. It’s actually expected that some may find themselves in shock about this new way of doing business but we have a great reason behind it.
To start, let’s first define what an estimate and a quote are. An estimate is just that, a ball park number of where your project could land but given the variables involved, the amount is not certain. A quote is a hard number that is produced after factoring in all of the variables that surround your project, and it is the number that is written into the contracts.
At Black Ram General Construction, our goal is to improve your home and life by taking care of those remodeling tasks as efficiently and quickly as possible so that you can get back to dealing with the things that truly matter in your life. We truly value our clients’ time and because of that, we came up with a much more efficient way of getting you the information you need to decide if we are the right fit for your project.
Are you intrigued now? Well, here it is, we most certainly can provide you with a free estimate for any project you’re considering us for.
Prior to this change, we were having to ask clients like you to juggle more things into their daily schedules to accommodate us coming over, taking up room in the house, and keeping you from doing other things with your time, only to find out we’re miles apart on budget, or even at times, that your project is just not something we can accommodate within your planned timelines. Think about it, how aggravating it would feel to know that after all of that juggling and stressing over finding time to meet with us, you find out we can’t even help you?
We don’t want you to feel that way and so we opted for finding a better way.
So what’s the deal you ask?
Well, we can actually schedule a quick phone consultation to discuss your project ideas and needs, your timelines, and the existing conditions of your project space. This would give us a better view of what your project could take to complete. Knowing this information, we could give you an estimated number of where your project could land as far as timelines and investment size. With this in mind, you can decide if it’s within your planned budget or not.
If you are comfortable with the estimate, we can then discuss what happens next. If however, our timelines don’t match up or your budget and the estimate are not in agreement, then no harm done, at least we didn’t take up part of your day. Imagine that, just a short phone call was all it took for you to get the information needed to help you know what your next step should be.
Doesn’t that sound better than having to reorganize a whole day to get the same information?
The best part is that because of all the technological advances, we can easily share photos and videos of anything with anyone. In this case, this technology allows us to see your space without interrupting your day and the more images we have, the better the estimate will be.
We found that this speeds up the process of getting projects on the schedule as our clients can get their answers much faster with a phone call versus having to wait a week or more to get us on site like it was done in the past.
What should you expect?
Now you may ask yourself, “now wait a minute, how accurate can an estimate be if you aren’t seeing things in person?”
Well, the answer to that is simple, because it is an estimate, it will not be 100% accurate but the more information we have, the better it will be. Based on our past experiences and with the help of math, we can calculate about how long projects will take, and an approximate number for material costs, etc. So while not 100% accurate, it is still a good number to lean on.
That’s not to say that if you do decide to move forward after the phone consultation, that we arrive on site and something unknown is discovered, that it couldn’t throw a monkey wrench into the estimated numbers, but that’s where our excellent communication skills will come up to shine. We will notify you right away of the findings and of the impact of such so that you can still determine whether you’d like to continue with signing a contract or not.
Our goal is to simplify things for you and we hope that by adopting this change, we can do just that.
So what can you expect during our phone consultation? It’s going to be a simple conversation where we discuss all the information you can share on your project. We’ll listen to your needs, wants, and desires, and determine if we can help you. We will touch on what you want to achieve, when you want to do so by, and any questions or concerns you may have.
It’s nothing more than a pleasant conversations between friends to find out what is possible for your home. By the end of the conversation, you will get to know our style and will know what to expect for your project. You’ll either feel like we are going to be a great partner for your project, or you will decide we aren’t for you. While we hope you choose to work with us, we understand, we cannot be everyone’s cup of tea for one reason or another. But what we can assure you, is that we won’t make you waste too much of your time to make that decision.
